New Jersey Last Will and Testament Form

New Jersey last will and testament establishes how a person’s property will be distributed after they die. The person who creates the will is called the testator, or sometimes the decedent, while the people or organizations that the will names to receive property are known as beneficiaries. The instructions in a will usually binding, and as a result they can help avoid disputes over a person’s estate.

Signing Requirements (§ 3B:3-2) – Wills must be in writing, signed by the testator, and also signed by at least two people who witnessed the testator signing. The witnesses must sign the will within a reasonable time of the testator.
