A California last will and testament enables a person, known as the testator, to distribute property after their death. Creating a will helps ensure that the testator’s property goes to their preferred people or institutions, which are known as beneficiaries. A will can also help avoid disputes among potential beneficiaries by clarifying property rights.
Laws – Probate Code Division 6, Part I (Wills)
Signing Requirements (Probate Code § 6110) – At least two witnesses must be present when the testator signs the will.
